KARTAVYA 2026

Kartavya is an example of a toolkit film. Scripts of such films are passed through ChatGPT and wokeness points added as per the engine's recommendation. Such films have a semblance of structure, get studio backing, manage a decent casting and make right noises about some or the other social issue. But that is it. There is no passion behind such projects. These are routine circulation projects, designed to keep everyone busy and rake in some moolah to keep the hearth running. Kartavya raises the issues of honor killing, godmen's evil influence and corrupt administration. Make no mistake, Jhimli is Shamli and Munnawar Nagar is Muzaffarnagar where honour killings are widely prevalent.
Saurabh Dwivedi is bad, but not as bad as he is being trolled. He has faced the camera confidently, spoken his lines with conviction and managed to hold his own against Saif Ali Khan. But he must be trolled or defended for he is a social media phenomenon. He can only get better. All it would take is getting used to the craft, for his diction and body language are not wanting. Saif Ali Khan's good man gushes out to perform valiant deeds as a cop. But he is no Langda Tyagi, whose villainy knew no bounds. Rasika Duggal does not have much to do. Zakir Hussain does not look like a proper Jat baap with honour on his mind. Manish Chaudhari is always in elements. Sanjay Mishra can walk into such roles with eyes closed. Yudhvir Ahlawat plays the child-assassin with conviction. Kartavya is not bad, but a formula film. It is not a torturous watch, but a meaningless one.
