Janhvi Kapoor plays a third generation career diplomat who has one mission in her life, that is to prove worthy of her legacy. She is posted in Nepal when the curtain raises, makes some cocky moves and is rewarded with the posting of Deputy Commissioner in High Commission in London. Her dad, played by Adil Hussain, still serving, is posted as India's Permanent Representative to the UN.

In London, Janhvi gets entangled with a Michelin Star chef who later turns out to be a spy. This guy, played by Gulshan Devaiah, secretly films them while having sex, and blackmails her into doing his bidding. RAW agents Myeing and later Roshan Mathew get involved.

This subplot turns out to be a part of a larger conspiracy involving the new Pakistani PM and Indian minister, ISI and RAW. With some hiccups, everything gets resolved to everyone's satisfaction. The film has an excellent build-up, suffers from very flat climax. When they are allowed to, Gulshan, Roshan and others give their heart and soul into the performance. They are ably supported by Rajesh Tailang, Rajendra Gupta and Chang. But a hurried climax spoils the show. Janhvi has not disappointed in the film, and rather looks the part. Adil Bhai is never out of sync. You don't expect Tailang and Rajendra ji to misfire. Roshan and Gulshan are ever reliable. Thus, Ulajh turns out to be a much lesser film than what the casting promises. That's sad really, because 15 more minutes might have easily added more fire to it.
