Poacher (2018) is a Kenyan/ British short film (27 minutes long) available on Netflix. It tells the story of a Kenyan farmer who steals ivory from poachers and is pursued by them as well as rangers.
The farmer has to fight nature and is at the whim of elephant herds who run amok among his crop. He has two kids and a wife to feed. And yet he is not the one who kills elephants, howsoever tempting it might be.
The short film was made to highlight the menace of ivory trade. 50000 elephants are slain every year for their ivory tusks. At the current rate of depletion, they would become extinct by 2040. Along with beautiful landscape shots and aerial views captured from helicopter, the feature also has some shocking visuals of dead elephants.
Conservation of wildlife depends upon removing the distinction between 'your' elephants and 'yours too'. Growing population pressure, and ever increasing ivory trade might not allow that. It is a war worthy of being fought, but there is no hope of right and good prevailing in that struggle.
