A 15 year old boy, who is a famous child actor, falls for a 28 year old woman.There is evident chemistry, and the boy is head over heels, but the woman resists the temptation. They become good friends, then business partners and hang out together.
She wants 'something else' from life. He is Midas, whatever he touches becomes gold. He does not come across as especially aware or smart, but has panache and way with words. That is his USP, and helps him succeed in all his endeavours.
She drifts from one man to another, one job to another and although she is smart as hell and her smile can light up the night, gets nowhere.
Set in 1973, this romcom just flows through time, and takes us nowhere. This is the beauty of Licorice Pizza, and thats why it worked enough to garner Best Picture, Director and original screenplay nominations.
