TRUTH - How Dan Rather got the boot for reporting on Bush Jr.

 TRUTH 2015

Cate Blanchett plays Mary Mapes, a CBS News Producer, who gets herself and her crew, and the legendary news anchor Dan Rather, into trouble by hazy reporting on the Killian documents controversy. CBS basically accused the President, GW Bush, of going AWOL during his National Air Guard days in 1972. Some objection gets raised regarding the authenticity of the documents, and backlash follows. Ultimately many careers get destroyed. Mary is fired, Dan is forced to bow out. Truth becomes the casualty. The film is based on Mary Mapes' memoir.

Cate Blanchett is pitch perfect as Mary. Robert Redford plays Dan with aplomb. This is a great watch if news reporting and political films attract you.
