KANDAHAR - Stale, Clumsy Film but breathes because of Gerard Butler

Same old lines, same old ideas. Similar situations, boring and predictable storyline. Okay in action, clumsy in character portrayal. Why should I then watch Kandahar? Because I am a fan of Gerard Butler. Ali Fazal tries to mouth some home truths about Islam, and acts as cool as an ISI agent should. But he doesn't look the part. Come to think of it, the Pakistani establishment has been accused of trying to nab a Westerner so that he could be sold to the highest bidder. That part is fantastic, and shows Pakistan in unflattering light. Action is far and few, and yet some catches do catch the eye. Watch it for Butler, though, not for Afghanistan nor for Iran. There is nothing to be gained from this film except some fanboy credits.
