Michael Pena plays Kiki Camarena, the DEA agent in Guadalajara (Mexico) , who pokes around in the Narcos' affairs against all odds, and succeeds in building a solid case Miguel Felix, the Godfather. Kiki is kidnapped and later killed in 1985, which results in strong reprisal from the DEA.
Felix is the one who organizes all Mexican plazas and gets them involved in Marijuana trade (production and transport). He later gets involved with the Colombians and begins transporting coke to the USA. His friend, Rafa Caro Quintero, developed the seedless Sinsemilla marijuana which was in great demand. The Great Bust of El Bufalo (1984), busted by Kiki and his DEA friends, was a raid,seizure and burning of Rafa's marijuana farm.
Narcos : Mexico is well made and narrates the story clinically.But it lacks the explosive presence of Pablo Escobar or Javier Pena or the Cali Cartel. But Michael Pena and the actor playing Felix do a really fine job.
