Make no mistake, despite her genius, Shakuntala Devi was no Sadhvi. In fact, she was a rebel from her early days who turned into a tyrant as she grew older. This reflected in her relationships with husband and daughter. Anu Menon has tried to capture the essence of the Maths Whiz.
All is fine, except that Vidya Balan could not get out of her Dirty Picture mould.
Sania Malhotra is okay but lacks spark. Amit Sadh is almost not there. Jisshu Sengupta impresses in his cameo. But Vidya is too full of himself, her saris and her own self-image.
Anu Menon has tried to capture the masala of the Human Computer's life. Not just a mathematician, she was also an astrologer, a motivational speaker, a writer of numerous books and even fought a Lok Sabha election against Indira Gadhi from Medak in 1980. One of the books that SD wrote was titled The World of Homosexuals. This genius passed away in 2013, and till date many of her calculation speed records still stand in her name.
