Harping on the needless romantic angle between Nawaz and Radhika Apte, while under-using Tigmanshu Dhulia and Aditya Shrivastava is inexplicable.
The desi film noir runs slowly and builds up on its death/murder/suicide tolls. It is a 149 minute long film, which could have been cut down by 30 minutes for more edge. Characters have been given depth and the whole script reads like some chess board. But three cops, nine family members, a politician, his daughter, Nawaz's mother and a couple of bad minions is a tad too much to handle.
Nawazuddin and Radhika have given on par performances. Dhulia has been turned into a caricature , and Aditya Shrivastava has not been given freedom to soar. Ila Arun has again delivered in a cameo. Raat Akeli Hai is a fine fil, , but not great. It could have been , with a little less indulgence.
