URI : The Surgical Strike 2019
by
ADITYA DHAR
I wonder what was the need to name the film as Uri . The Uri
Revenge might have made more sense. Perhaps.
This film scores well
on cinematography and VFX action scenes. Aditya Dhar, later awarded the
National Award for Best Director, displayed immense control throughout the
runtime. The film never descends into melodramatic jingoism. For that we have
also to thank the actors, who led by Vikki Kaushal (National Award for Best
Actor) and ably supported by Yami Gautam, Mohit Raina and Kirti Kulhari have done a fabulous job. I did
not quite like Paresh Rawal’s portrayal of Ajit Doval, but the veteran actor didn’t
quite embarrass himself either.
This is a fictional account of the Surgical Strikes carried
out by India against Pakistan. How much of it is based on reality I cannot say.
But the film never drags , and in the end is a good cinematic experience.
That is what ultimately counts. Which is why it has made
loads of money. The film shall be remembered for its dialogue ,"How's the Josh ?".
