This is the story of a city nurse,Elishka,who works for the
underground network in the occupied Czechoslovakia in 40s.After being
apprehended,her lover,a surgeon abandons her,and leaves behind arrangements for
her to hide in the mountainside.
Under protection of a
patient whose life she saved,Elishka finds refuge in Zelary,a mountain
settlement.They pass their days in the idyllic countryside , in fear of the
Nazis,but finding happiness in each other.The USP of the film is its brilliant cinematography.It
was nominated for the Best Foreign Film Oscar.Zelary is a kind of film,which
leaves behind no tracks,beautiful while
one watches it,but cant remember anything of it once it gets over.
