Shashi Kapoor is an engineer in love with Mumtaz, the daughter of a rich man. The rich man sends him to jail on charges of rape/ attempted rape. There he meets with Danny Denzongpa, Asrani and Tarun Ghosh. Danny's dialogue 'teri ma ko apni ma manu' keeps ringing throughout the film. The foursome run away from jail, team up with Mumtaz, find a hiding place in a village where they indulge in social work, and spoil the game of Madan Puri, a local zamindar and a politician. The film is very poorly acted and written, but Shashi and Danny are huge draws. The film is famous for its song 'le jayenge dilwale dulhaniya le jayenge'.
