The Town captures the ethos of Charlestown, Boston, in that it harps on the Irish brocodes and all that. Men swallowed info and went to box for long years. Women hopped between men and drugs, had kids and just disappeared. You ran crews, you did your time, you lived like a man. Careers be damned, Heat is what mattered. Silence counted for everything. The Town is quite like Heat (1995) in its design, feel and execution. Ben Affleck is a bit restrained, but Jeremy Renner is not. Blake Lively shines though. Rebecca Hall is the soul of the film and most dignified beauty in the world. Chris Cooper and Pete Postlewaite walk in and out of roles with elan. The Town is a film that keeps getting better with every watching.
