You have the best war material at your disposal and are directing a sequel to a great war-film. Sunny Deol is still going strong. You focus on four crucial battles- Naval battle in Arabia Sea, Air battle in Jammu, tank engagement at Shakargarh Bulge and the land battle of Manawar Tawi, and yet you make a trash film because you don't understand anything about film direction.
Why on earth would you show piecemeal battles in air and sea? How can you jump from the naval battle to scenes in air? Why would you not keep the spotlight on Nirmaljeet Singh Sekhon or Mahendra Nath Mullah? This is such juvenile thinking that you know it can't be ratified. Then again, your soldiers seem obsessed with their families, letters and romance. Why would you embarrass them by making them act on cheesy old songs! This is not the age of Emraan Hashmi. Songs can work in the background but pray do not turn this into nautanki.
I forgive the makers their casting because there are commercial compulsions. That said, Ahan Shetty is really pathetic. Varun Dhawan tries too hard. Diljit Dosanjh is wannabe SRK. Sunny can still pack a punch. Mona Singh is doing rather well. I would consider this film as a wasted opportunity.
