AAKROSH 2010

The film had a decent script. Amazing cast was in place. Imagine having Ajay Devgn, Akshaye Khanna, Paresh Rawal, Jaideep Ahlawat, Bipasha Basu and Pankaj Tripathi in your rolls, and yet making a film that fails to meet the expectations.
The film follows Alan J. Pakula's Mississippi Burning starring Gene Hackman and William Dafoe and is in many cases a scene-by-scene rip off. In many scenes, pitch and tone of dialogues go too high, which end up making the action around it too ridiculous. Ajay and Akshaye have given fine performances. Paresh Rawal is singularly bad in this film. He was allowed too much freedom to improvise, and the result is disastrous.
Ajay holds Jaideep by his balls in a scene as the latter squirms and falls on the floor. Pankaj becomes a police informer. The promise is for everyone to see. Who knew both of them would break out and become such big draws? Aakrosh, for me, represents a promise not kept. It could have been so much better!
