Ponniyin Selvan 2- Could have been more Intense

After the introduction of the characters and laying down the setting in PS 1, Mani should have delved deep into the psyche of the princes and their wannabe assassins. Unfortunately, Mani Ratnam could not turn their flatness into roundness, and the climax leaves the audience gasping for more emotional connect. The film is well made and has its technique and scale in order, but falters a bit in telling story with passion. The loss is ours, for who in this lifetime shall attempt another film on the epic.
