The Big Sick - Good, Overhyped

Kumail Nanjiani is real deal. The guy does not spin jokes by too much, and hence invites and heaves and edges. That is the point. Do not be tangential, or cater to z-axis. You genius might not work. Just do enough to engage. Thats it.

He plays a Pakistani who falls for a white American girl (whatever that means), and then arrive some light-humoured complications. Anupam Kher, Ray Romano, Holly Hunter- you really cant ask for a better cast. The film is stereotypically 'engaging', and i guess that was the plan.
