Fatteshikast (Marathi) - Shivaji versus Shaista Khan

I am indebted to the director Digpal Lanjekar for making Shivaji walk the earth after 350 years, and bringing his story to life. Shiva of legends is a formidable enough icon, but the historical Raje is such an inspiring figure! Chinmay Mandlekar is perfectly into the role, while Ausaheb, that is Jijabai, is so gracefully portrayed by Mrinal Kulkerni.

Fatteshikast is the story of how the Marathas took back the Lal Mahal, cut off Shaista's three fingers, and forced the Mughal retreat from Pune. Swaraj was established there and it became a Maratha stronghold. The director has kept his lens trained on other Maratha heroes as well- Tanaji Malasure, Bahirji Naik, Netaji Palkar and others.

This film is the second in the Shivba series. I have already watched Farzand and Pawankhind, and would next watch the latest offering, Sher Shivraj. Suffice is to say that this is a must watch series.
