Alicia Vikander is a treasure. Chris Waltz is a volcano. The treasure seems locked in this film, and volcano is dormant. The chemistry is not there. There are inhibitions at play. Amsterdam in 1634 with the background of painting, tulips and costumes could have made for a grand spectacle. But it is reduced to a hurried storytelling which fails to excite.
A wasted opportunity, then! Despite some skin show!
