WAZIR - A Tame Offering

Wazir 2016

Vidhu Vinod Chopra fancies himself as a mighty intellectual. This movie proves again he can’t write anything that makes sense. Bijoy Nambiar made Shaitan ,but then faltered with David, and now with Wazir, has shot himself in the foot.

With a  cast as powerful and varied as Amitabh B, Farhan Akhtar, Manav Kaul, John Abraham and Neil Nitin Mukesh, the director could have done much better than what he actually managed to do. A sensible story would  definitely have helped.

One can’t appreciate how a father would risk the life of his daughter by jumping into a wild goose chase of a militant. I don’t see why Farhan could not have dislodged her from the vehicle before he got into the hunt.

One can understand how Farhan could empathize with Big B given that both had lost their daughters, but how does he get convinced that Big Bs allegations against the minister were true and were not the rants of a depressed father. That  a suspended ATS officer, currently on suspension, is hell bent on taking someone else’s revenge, even after satisfying his own vengeance ,belies belief.

The whole premise that Manav Kaul, the minister, is a terrorist and masquerading as a victim and a girl’s father is ludicrous. This angle is so stupid, it is even laughable. Why wont the minister bump the kid off in the ensuing years is difficult to explain!

How an IPS, John Abraham helps his friend, Farhan to bump off a minister , and another one ,the Sardar helps in phone tapping is laughable. Are we to believe that the officers of this country put personal friendships above call of duty and office procedure?

The list of such goofups and holes is long. Chopra should not write. Audience is not foolish. Fuck this shit. Its so simplistic in treatment, one feels pity for the director. Also proves one thing, for all the good cast and talented director, one needs a sane story, a workable script and a logical screenplay to make a watchable film.
