Roberto Baggio gave me one of the biggest sporting highs by missing the penalty kick in 1994 World Cup final. He came in as the Ballon de Or in 1993, but disappointed badly in the league stages. Sacchi and Robby did not see eye to eye. Then he came on his own against Nigeria, Spain and Bulgaria, and scored five goals.
The film (documentary or docudrama would have been a better choice) then takes us to his early days, family home and the first major injury. His career was nearly over when he received 220 stitches in his leg. Buddhism and his girlfriend helped him cope, and someone remain afloat. Baggio is always shown sullen in the film.There is no celebration of soccer. Footage of goals would have helped. This dramatic representation did not work. Baggio could have been much better.
