Rosamund Pike is a par-excellence performer of wicked roles. She was more hateworthy in Gone Girl, but that was every man's nightmare. Here she plays a scammer who appropriates for herself the legal guardianship of seniors, confines them to assisted medical facilities and takes over their assets. That Pike has played this role with aplomb does not come as a surprise.

Peter Dinklage plays a gangster whose mother (played by Diane West) is thus confined to custody. He goes all out against her, but not only does she survive but turns the tables on him. He finds himself in her custody. 

The beginning and the middle portion of the film promise a lot. But the director takes the safer and easier route of proposed partnership between the two crooks to round things up. Of course, immorality loses in the end. But we had not signed up for that, had we?
