Torbaaz is as ridiculous a film as can be made. An Indian Army doctor who lost his philanthropist wife and kid in a fidayeen blast in Kabul comes back to start a cricket camp for refugee kids. There are a couple of Pakistani kids in the camp who have Taliban connection, but Sanjay Dutt manages to create Pashtun-Hazira-Tribal unity with his lofty talk. Then he takes this rag, tag and bobtail coalition to play against the best of U-16 kids of Kabul.
These are hairbrained ideas, and so are their execution.The film looks so contrived and foolish, it should not have been made. Even the cinematography, which ought to have been quite beautiful, is quite ordinary. Sanjay Dutt looks dashing, but Nargis Fakri is wasted. Rahul Dev looks hilarious as he mouths Hindi dialogues in Afghan accent.
Is the film unintentionally funny ? Sadly, not even that.
