MOONLIGHT - The First Film with All-Black cast

 MOONLIGHT 2016

by

Barry Jenkins

Moonlight is a coming-of-age film of a black kid. Marshalala Ali, a drug dealer, becomes his mentor and shows him around. There is not much drama to keep one hooked.

The film was awarded the Best Picture Oscar and Ali won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. Barry Jenkins was nominated as the Best Director. I found the film a tad overhyped. But then blacks, homosexuality and drugs are a combo which is guaranteed for success in modern America.
