6 DAYS ( 2017)

Six terrorists stormed the Iranian embassy in London on
April 30th, 1980 and held about a dozen persons hostage for 6 long
days. The British government swung between negotiations and military action,
and also tried to persue the Iranian government and Arab League. The terrorists
demanded that Iran free some of their brethren , a demand which Iran refused
point blank. Ultimately, SAS stormed the embassy and killed 5 out of 6 hijackers.
Two hostages also lost their lives. Margaret Thatcher was praised for the decisive
manner in which she dealt with the problem.
Mark Strong plays a sensible negotiator, Abbie Cornish a BBC
journalist and Jamie Bell, the SAS commander who led the storming. The film is
well-made but slightly sluggish paced . It could have been higher on action,
but perhaps there was not much material to begin with.
