Junglee 2019

Vidyu
Jammwal does fight sequences with conviction. His mastery of Kalaripayattu
(Keralite martial arts) and fluidity of action make for a visual treat. And of course, there are
elephants in the film which give it its soul. But the plotline is as simple as
a comic book. There is simply no drama, and resolution is never in doubt.
Characters are all flat, and one who could have had shades of grey,Akshaye Oberoi, is popped
off without much whimper.
It came as a
surprise that Akshaye matched Vidyut in the Kalari matchup. Makarand Deshpande has given a good cameo.
But the film fails to ever take off. But this is one film which can break your
heart,especially during the extended
tusker-killing scene. The images are gory and can haunt one long after
the screening is over.
Junglee
could have been a much better film with a slightly more sensible writing. The
lead actor and the animals surely deserved better.
