Guftagoo E06-Irfan with Pankaj Tripathy

GUFTAGOO E06-PANKAJ TRIPATHY
RSTV-WITH IRFAN

Coming from any other actor,it would have seemed pretty arrogant ,but when Pankaj Tripathy says that he doesnt think in terms of achievements,it feels quite natural. Throughout his seventy minutes long interview,Pankaj keeps harping upon his love for Kabir, his own humble roots, lack of material ambition and the joy of acting. One cannot fake it for this long. When one is face to face with a master interviewer like Irfan, truth comes out to the fore. With this endearing smile, and silent falicitation,Irfan leaves the arena free for the interviewee to talk, and these are kind of interactions which give us a peek into the soul of actors/directors.
Pankaj Tripathy belongs to a village in Goplaganj (bihar),and comes from a farming family. His father wanted him to become a doctor, and he went to Patna and twice appeared unsuccessfully  in the medical entrance. Following this failure he became a students’ leader,an athlete and developed an interest in plays.Along with working in local plays,he also did a course in hotel management, and became a chef in Maurya Patna. Following this he joined NSD,and later headed towards Mumbai in 2004.
Pankaj was married ,and was accompanied with his wife when he first reached Mumbai. What followed was a long struggle .She started teaching a local school in Goregaon ,and Pankaj found some work in ads, corporate series, plays and films. Somehow, the couple survived this struggle.
Pankaj also talks about his casting in Wasseypur, the experience of working with Anurag Kashyap, and how the shooting and success of GoW unfolded. He had arrived. Now he was the toast of the town, and flush with film offers. Despite his inherent humility, Pankaj knows his worth and his art.He talks about acting with confidence, and betrays his love for travel and literature. He comes across as a man who has amazing  understanding and articulation ,as well as philosophical bent of mind.
Way to go,Pankaj Bhai.
Long Live Irfan .
