Dadua Dakait was the terror of Bundelkhand for 30 years till his encounter in July 2007. Mulayam Singh was forced to form a STF to control Dadua's activities after he brutally killed a Yadav gang member. In the film, this STF is headed by Pratik Gandhi, who is married to Ishita Dutta. Their playful chemistry helps to keep the story well-rounded. The STF acquires a life of its own through its various operations. Mayawati is very impressed with the STF's conduct during elections. A few months after her ascent to power, Dadua is slain in the jungles of Bundelkhand in 2007.
Arshad Warsi has played the role of Dadua Maharaj with conviction. But there is no edge to this performance. Its underwhelming nature fails to lift the film, especially because none of his lieutenants breathe fire, nor does Pratik Gandhi-led cops display any charisma. Beautiful locales and fear of Dadua are present throughout, but Ghamasan fails to take off at any point. When compared with films like Paan Singh Tomar and Sonchiriya, Ghamasaan comes across as a bit lazy attempt.
Tigmanshu Dhulia had criticized Dhurandhar some days back for its lack of story. Ghamasaan also suffers from the lack of any story. There is a STF guy who is sent to Bundelkhand, and he creates utter chaos throughout the region. Dadua Maharaj was always gonna be killed someday, and predictably he is! I wish Dhulia had served us a better dish after claiming to be a great chef.
