Pierce Brosnan is such a smooth operator that you know he'd get the girl as well the bucks. Geoffrey Rush is in his elements as the eponymous tailor, a pretender, actually. He has a lovely family of four, with wife Jamie Lee Curtis, working in the Canal office. Using his wicked imagination, Brosnan, a British spy, cooks up a 'silent opposition' story, and spreads rumours about the canal being given away to the Chinese. This helps him gain 15 million dollars which he scoots away with. Rush is shamed for his cock and bull stories but is reconciled with his wife. Brits are left with their peckers in their hands. A crisis is averted; some fortune is lost. Catherine McCormack and Brendon Gleeson also grace the film.
