Sergio Vieira de Mello was a Brazilian-born UN diplomat who worked in many strife-torn parts of the world. He grew cockier after achieving stupendous success in East Timor. As Chief Administrator, he managed a final peace breakthrough between locals and Indonesians. He went to Iraq on Bush's request but insisted on showcasing his independence and distinction from the US. This resulted in a huge terrorist attack on UN compound in which Serio is killed.
Wagner Moura has played Sergio with smug self-assurance, which gets annoying after a point. Ana de Armas plays his love interest and an Argentinian diplomat, but as always, comes across as too plastic and superficial. Sergio is the story of a worthy man, badly told.
