You cannot make a KKC after Hazaron Khwahishen Aisi and get away with it. Don't get me wrong, KKC is not a bad film. But it is not what Brand Mishra promised. KKC suffers from not just one miscasting, that is Soha Ali Khan as the lead actress, but also from lack of passion throughout- not enough love, lust, enmity or madness for the craft. Things do happen, and things do have some reason- but nothing transcends the subject matter. In short, the nothing singes you deeply. That is the end of the film.
Shiney Ahuja is a mighty powerful performer, almost wolverine in his passion. But Soha can't reciprocate his animal magnetism for the life of her. Kangana could have done justice to this role. Chitrangada would have delivered kayamat. Rajat Kapoor refuses to turn mean enough, Vinay Pathak is reliable but does not go for the kill. Saurabh Shukla is wasted as a khoja. I suspect Sudhir played safe and that cost him the film. If he had properly buggered his actors, he would have succeeded. But not with Soha, no way. There are roles that do require flesh and oomph. You simply cannot do without them.
