There is big market out there for light-hearted, brainless, non-intellectual films, esp. chicflicks. Materialists is the story of Dakota Johnson playing a date counsellor who had previously dumped her boyfriend, Chris Evans, for being too poor to provide her basic comforts of life. Pedro Pascal, the hotshot, pursues her and dates her, but she realizes one night that he is not the one and she was not in love with him. She goes back to Evans with lots of words and hopes. The film throws light on the dating culture of New York and is as interesting as potato.
