GLADIATOR 2 (2024)

Gladiator 2 minus Denzel Washington is nothing. The film cannot stand on its two legs without the presence of the great man. Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal and the rest of the cast serve us a good treat, but the film lacks an emotional core to connect with. That is such a tragedy for this could have been so much more. Trouble is Russell Crowe has left too deep imprints which cannot be wished away.
The film is watchable, no doubt, and has fair drama to go along. But it comes across as pale shadow of the original and that proves to be its undoing.
