Tigerland was a training camp in Louisiana where departing battalions were hosted for a week before being sent off to Vietnam. That is because its physical conditions resembled conditions that troops were likely to encounter in Indo-China. Colin Farrell finds himself at such a camp. Now he is not quite Yossarian, but even he won't quit or run away, but not turn war into a play. He would not desert or turn away from war, but not quite glorify it, or even play by the rules of love for one's own and hatred towards the enemy. He has an eye for detail and loopholes and helps a couple of drafted men to escape war.
Tigerland is a powerful film, which rides upon Colin Farrell's charisma. Shia Wigham also gives a good performance. There is something about the film's cinematography that turns it into a very personal experience. A very satisfying watch, indeed!
