The film did not do well. There is a lot of usual problems with the script. Violence is mindless and over-the-top and characters are all sorry caricatures. Yet this is a film that stayed with me for long years and i had the occasion to rewatch it yesterday and I was not sorry for the effort.
The film boasts of Amrish Puri indulging in some great dialogue delivery with remarkable intensity. Akshay is an incorrigible idealist who knows no chill. He wants justice this very instant and wont hold back. Raj Babbar and Govind Namdeo are rival politicians with not a good bone in their bodies. Mohan Joshi is a corrupt cop without a saving grace. SM Zaheer plays Akshay's dad with quiet aplomb. Alok Nath is the Mumbai Police Commissioner. Raveena plays Akshay's love interest but there is no oomph on display. Police Force is pure drama and no emotions. The film capsizes even before it gets launched but Puri's force and Akshay's innocence stand out. Bit better writing could have helped this film a great deal.
