Branagh knows how to do it. He has played Hercules Poirot thrice now, and has impressed every single time. This film is based upon Christie's novel Hallowe'en Party, which is set in Venice, the most beautiful town in Europe. Kelly Reilly plays a grieving woman who has lost her child and who has called a seance at her home in which an authoress has brought in now retired Poirot.
Denying any supernatural reason behind deaths and voices, Poirot sets about to find the killer. Which he does in the end, but not before he is drugged and feels the effects, and two persons are killed in the meantime.
The film is beautifully shot, well acted-in and nicely made, but story seems a bit dated. But overall its watchable stuff.
