IF you delve deeply into pending police cases in any region, missing children and young women always figure among the most common ones. Dahaad takes you deep into villages and small towns of Rajasthan, and adapts the story of Cyanide Mohan almost perfectly in local settings. Mohan Kumar operated in south-western Karnataka and managed to lure scores of girls into his trap by massaging their egos and offering to marry them without any dowry.

Vijay Varma has delivered his best performance as the Hindi lecturer-serial killer-cuckolded husband. Sonakshi Sinha is not off tone as a highly motivated, out-to-prove-her-worth cop. When has Gulshan Deviah ever been less than spectacular anywhere. Sohum Shah has delivered a fine performance as well. Rima Kagti and Zoya Akhtar have made a great show which unfolds at relaxed pace, and does not force you to take sides between morally right and wrong. There are some woke undertones, but hey, traces of it are tolerable and even expected. Overall a well-written show which is pushed to great heights by performances and scenic authenticity.
