John Wick is a reflective sort of a merciless killer who is retired, but currently grieving. Then some gangsters snatch his car and kill his dog and earn his wrath. What happens next has a sort of inevitability to it. Reeves goes on a killing spree and satisfies his desire for revenge. Sleek-looking thugs in black suits, long and highly choreographed single-take action scenes and intense chases in darkness interspersed with light are the hallmarks of the film. Them, and Keanu Reeves in no-nonsense mode.
