Capt. Vikram Batra was a stud. The soldier from Palampur, whose heart always asked for more, had such irresistible presence that it allows Siddharth Malhotra to get away with some put on charm.
The film travels nowhere in the first 45 minutes. The love story is flat. Other characters are just not there. But the film comes into its own when action shifts to Kargil and 13 JKR is sent in. As an Army Procedural, it works. Sid's enthusiasm also works. There are tears towards the end, with lots of love and admiration for Capt Vikram Batra and the Martyrs of Kargil.
This is an essential watch- a story that needed to be told. Do not dissect it too much.
