Minari is water celery, a plant which is eaten by East Asians.

A Korean family tries to make it in the American countryside in 1980s. They struggle against nature, and family tensions to make something of the American dream.

The film is beautifully shot, and is helped by overall good performances and steady direction. It was nominated for six Academy Awards including Best Actor (Steve Yeun), Best Supporting actress (Youn Yuh-Jung who won the award), Best Picture, Director, Original Score and Original screenplay.
