Uncle Sam did not like that she sang a song on lynching by the Klan. In the name of war on drugs, they went after her for the longest time. She fought, got bruised, survived and kept singing that song once in a while.

In 1978, long after she was gone , Billie Holiday's Strange Fruit was included in Hall of Fame. This film is the story of Billie Holiday, and persecution by the US Government.

Andra Day has been nominated for the Oscars in the Best Actress category. Trevante Rhodes has done well as a Black Fed agent. The film is not exactly a classic, but the story has been told well.
