The DIG - The Excavation of Sutton Hoo

 The DIG 2021

by

Simon Stone

In 1939, a Suffolk landlady hired a local self-taught excavator to explore burial mounds on her property at Sutton Hoo. The excavator, Basil Brown, manages to unearth Anglo-Saxon treasures of immense archaeological value. The landlady helps Brown to carry on his work, and puts the outsiders in their place.

The excavator is denied his due after the discoveries are made known. It is only recently that he has been prominently acknowledged. It is based on John Preston's novel of the same name.

Ralph Fiennes and Carey Mulligan have done very well. The Dig should be watched for the love for British countryside.
