A commercial film it might be ,but it made a lasting impact on lives in the villages of Andhra and Telengana. The film’s
storyline centres on the son of a rich industrialist who has no interest in the
family business and urban life.He is essentially a saint at heart,a
philanthropist to the core. One day he gets hit by a thunderbolt when he sees
Shruti Hassan, manages to track her down, gets admitted in her college and enlists for the same course
that she is also persuing. It is this
course on rural development that turns out to be his calling. He finds his
ancestral village and virtually adopts it as a means of paying back to the society. There
are some bad guys, but as is expected ,they are swatted away like flies.
The basic plot of the film is its strength as is the
performance of Mahesh Babu ,who is perhaps the best looking actor in India. The
scripting is lousy ,full of coincidences and convenient explanations, which is
usually the case in commercial south
indian films. But all this can be ignored because Mahesh Babu, who can
act-dance-fight well, has made the film work . The success of this film gave
rise to a trend of celebs in the South adopting villages in the name of giving back to the
society. This alone makes the film worth a watch,of course Mahesh Babu and
Shruti Hassan are also its selling points.
